When we’re not out filming, we’re at home cooking. 🧑🏽‍🍳

Besides photography our other passion is food. Cooking is a great team building activity that relieves stress and promotes creativity. We used to cook as a group all the time, but with our hectic schedules it’s been hard to find time to get together. Once the busy summer season ended we wanted to enjoy the weather one last time before the cold weather settled in, so we decided brunch outside would be the best way to say goodbye to summer!

We wanted to share with you the delicious salad and drinks that we made, now remember, we are not professionals!! So don’t be intimidated, these recipes are very easy to follow, plus, it is really hard to mess up a salad! 😂

So we started off the brunch with drinks. (Of course)

Now first things first, these recipes wont have exact measurements, we like to eyeball things and make things to our liking, so have fun with it!!

The first drink was my mother’s version of a Paloma:

Paloma Drink

You will need the following:

For the Paloma:

You want to start with the rim of the cup, preferably a cute glass cup. Put the tajin and the chamoy on separate plates. (enough to cover the rim) First fully coat the rim by dipping it in the chamoy then dip it in the tajin. You may also add both ingredients inside the cup as well for extra flavor. Then fill ¾ of the cup of squirt, followed by a sprinkle of salt, squeeze of lemon, and finish off with 2 shots of Tequila! Mix and Enjoy!!

The drink we paired with our meal was the:

Pineapple Pomegranate Sunrise (PPS)

You will need the following:

  • Ice
  • Tequila (also works well with Vodka, Rum, or Soju)
  • Pineapple slices & Juice (store bought or fresh)
  • Pomegranate/Cranberry Juice
  • 1 Can of Stiegl Radler Grapefruit

Check out this video on how we put together my personal favorite drink:

Now for the star of the brunch:

The Strawberry, Walnut and Pear Salad

The Strawberry, Walnut and Pear Salad.

The first time I had this salad was at The Pasta Bowl and it was AMAZING. I don’t really care for salads but this one definitely changed my opinion. Since moving out from Chicago, it’s been hard to get a hold of this dish, but of course, Chef Didi always comes in clutch with the at home recipes.

Check out her rendition of The Pasta Bowl’s Strawberry, Walnut, and Pear Salad:
